Make Vegan Pepper Pretzels

Simple spicy home-made soft pretzels.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Quick Rise Yeast (1 1/4 tbsp or 1 packet)
  • Warm Water (1 1/2 cups)
  • Flour (4 cups)
  • Sugar (1 tbsp)
  • Salt (1 tsp)
  • Serrano Peppers (6!...or so, chopped)
  • Olive Oil (1 tbsp)
  1. Step 1

    Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

  2. Step 2

    Stir together the warm water and yeast until it gets 'muddy'.

  3. Step 3

    Add the remaining ingredients and knead for 5 minutes or so.

  4. Step 4

    Roll out the dough flat and slice off strips to form into pretzels.

  5. Step 5

    Brush lightly with olive oil, and add kosher salt or any other spices.

  6. Step 6

    Place on baking sheet and bake for 12 - 15 minutes, or until slightly browned.

Tips & Warnings
  • Lots of water on hand. ;)

on 10/30/2008 I have vegan relatives. I will watch from time to time so I can feed them. I lean vegetarian, but once or twice a year have caveman dreams and go out for a big dinner.
