How to get rid of ink, chocolate, grass, red wine fruit juice stains

eco-friendly, home-made stain removers

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • liquid laundry detergent
  • damp towels
  • sponge, warm water
  • talcum powder
  • soft cloth
  • cold water
  • paper towels
  • vinegar
  • eucalyptus oil
  • dish soap
  • dull knife
  • rubbing alcohol
  1. Step 1

    grass stains
    clothing and linens:
    Flush area with rubbing alcohol, rinse with water. Apply liquid dish soap, rinse
    Upholstery and carpets:
    Dab liquid laundry detergent directly on spot, let sit for 2 hours, remove detergent with wet towel.

  2. Step 2

    red wine
    Clothing and linens: Gently dab stain with white towel soaked in club soda, saturating area, launder as usual.

    Upholstery and carpet
    apply club soda, towel dry, treat with a natural carpet cleaner.
    for furniture--sponge with warm water, cover spot with talcum powder and let sit for several minutes, gently brush with soft cloth

  3. Step 3

    fruit juice
    clothing and linens:
    pour boiling water over stains--use warm water for delicate fabrics

    upholstery and carpet:
    gently blot with one part liquid detergent, two parts warm water, next apply a one-to-one mixture of distilled white vinegar and water, dab again with detergent and water: sponge clean with cold water

  4. Step 4

    pee from pet

    Clothing and linens
    soak in a solution of distilled white vinegar and hot water(cold water for delicate fabric)for 30 minutes, rinse garmewnt, launder.

    Upholstery and Carpet
    Use paper towels to absorb as much as urine as possible. With sponge, apply solution of 1/4 cup vinegar, several drops of eucalyptus oil and 1 teaspoon of liquid dish soap. Let stand for 30 minutes, blot using damp towel

  5. Step 5

    Chocolate
    Clothing and linens
    soak fabric in cold water, if stain remains dab with detergent.

    Upholstery and carpet
    let chocolate harden, scrape excess off with dull knife, blot with one part liquid laundry detergent, two parts tepid water.

  6. Step 6

    ink
    Clothing and linens
    place a white towel underneath garment to absorb excess ink. Saturate stain with rubbing alcohol, rinse thoroughly with tepid water.

    Upholstery and carpet

    blot excess ink with paper towel. Apply rubbing alcohol. dab until gone.

Tips & Warnings
  • treat stains as soon as you can, ideally within one hour which helps the stain from not becoming permanent.
  • test stain remover on inconspicuous area of fabric first to ensure color will not be affected.
  • avoid rubbing or scrubbing, which may fray the fibers and/or set the stain
  • keep whit towel on hand that is designated for stains.
  • seek help fro dry cleaner for stains on silk, suede and leather
  • if unsure of how to treat stain or if solution is ingested or gets in eyes, seek help from professional
