How to Save Space In Windows Vista - Recover Space After Service Pack 1

We will see how to remove the installer files for Service Pack 1 that you don't need after you completed your installation of Service Pack 1.

• Computer
• Microsoft Windows Vista
• Service Pack 1
• 5 Minutes

1. 
    

   Once you are ready to begin click "Start" in the lower left of your screen.

   Type "cmd". The cursor should have been placed in the text box when you clicked "Start" earlier.

3. 
    

   Right click "cmd.exe" in the list and select "Run as administrator". This will open the command line administration console where we can excute our needed commands.

4. 
    

   When the command prompt opens type "vsp1cln" and press enter. When prompted type "y" and press enter. Wait for this process to complete. Then, you are all done! Enjoy your recovered space!

• These steps can free as much as 2 to 3 gigabytes of space
• Once you remove the files for service pack 1 you will not be able to uninstall service pack 1
