Nowadays you can make salads that resemble a full course meal. This salad is versatile, you can add grilled chicken breast strips if you like or keep it vegetarian. Your choice!

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Spinach leafs
  • Strips of grilled chicken (optional)
  • Blanched almond slivers
  • Mandarin Orange Segments
  • Red Onion Ringlets
  • Parmesan
  1. Step 1
    Spinach Leafs
    Spinach Leafs

    Cover a salad plate or large plate with a heaping pile of freshly washed spinach and romaine leaves cut into quarter size pieces. You don't have to use all the ingredients just your favorites will do.

  2. Step 2
    Grilled Chicken Strips
    Grilled Chicken Strips

    Lay strips of grilled chicken across the salad. This is optional if you prefer a vegetarian-style salad.

  3. Step 3
    Mandarin Oranges
    Mandarin Oranges

    Next, slightly squeeze mandarin orange juice over the spinach leafs and place the orange segments atop the salad greens.

  4. Step 4
    Red Onion Ringlets
    Red Onion Ringlets

    Top the salad with red onion ringlets and sprinkle parmesan cheese over it if you choose.

  5. Step 5
    Almond Slivers

    Then garnish the salad with a generous amount of blanched almonds and raisins.

  6. Step 6

    Top with your favorite salad dressing or without dressing at all. Serve with two warmed parsley-topped breadsticks.

Tips & Warnings
  • Pick 3 ingredients or all for a variety to this wonderful salad
  • Leave off the almonds and chicken for a vegetarian salad.
  • When building a salad you can add or omit ingredients as you wish.
