Step 1
1. Start with the most obvious - reduce the weight of the car. Take out stuffs from the trunk - that tire you've been meaning to get fixed but have never gotten around to it, that picnic bag which you left for months, unused bags, etc. The more weight means the less mileage for your car. So don't carry unnecesssary loads.
-
Step 2
Engine Tune-up - Check belts, spark plugs and wires. When car parts fail, chances are your car will suffer from poor gas mileage. A regular engine tune-up of at least once a year can save you dough and a lot of headaches.
-
Step 3
Check fuel filter - for better gas mileage, replace old fuel filters with new ones.
-
Step 4
Slow down speed - the faster your car goes, the more fuel needed. Traveling over 55 mph could lessen the mileage per gallon of fuel.
-
Step 5
Check the air filter - clean the air filter regularly. This will make sure that the engine gets more air, performs better and has more gas mileage.
