How to Adopt a Dog

Adopting a dog can be somewhat challenging for first time adopters.

Instructions

1. First, you need to decide what type of dog would fit best in your life and home. Consider the size of the dog, the energy level, and whether children will be involved. Decide how much hair shedding your willing to deal with, the age and the breed you are looking for. Remember puppies are a lot of work and many adult dogs are already trained.

2. Second, find an adoption agency that has the dog you want. Find out how much the agency charges, if the dog is up to date on shots, and whether the dog has been spayed or nuetered. Figure out if the agency has any rules or regulations that may prevent you from qualifying as adoptive parents for the dog of your choice.

3. Third, fill out the aplication, prepare for a home inspection if the agency performs them, and go shopping for the necessary supplies for your new member of the family.

4. Last, Bring your new friend home and enjoy the company!!

Tips & Warnings

• Some agencies are strict in their adoption policies, don't be disappointed if it takes you awhile to find the perfect job for your situation.
