Step 1
Taking your tarot deck you shuffle it if it's for yourself. If it is for someone else you have them shuffle it and return them to you. You cut the cards three times then in three piles and then pick them up. I don't really think the last part is necessary but that's what they do.
-
Step 2
You should ask for guidance or blessing from God, a higher power or your high self before going on. You can do that silently. Think of the question you have or your friend for the tarot. Or you can just ask for a general reading.
-
Step 3
You are supposed to use a card as a significator, one that stands for the person getting the reading. That person will pick it out. It is usually a court card.
-
Step 4
Next you put the cards out in the layout decided on. Good ones are the three card spread or the Celtic Cross. There are many different ones.
-
Step 5
Don't rush the reading. You can then look at it and get a general idea of the cards. You need a book telling you about the meanings if you are not used to the tarot. It will walk you through the reading. There are also instructions with the tarot decks. There are many different ways to interpret the cards. You will come to find the best meanings that you understand and that work best for you.
-
Step 6
There you have your reading. It should be something that you can understand that is helpful. If you don't like it right away try to be patient and think of what it could mean. The death card is not really bad as people know. It is another card but it means change.
-
Step 7
If you cannot understand the reading you can put them out again to try to ask for more info. Take the card in question and use it as a significator. Shuffle the cards again and put them out. You should then be satisfied with the answer. Consider the meaning from different angles.

on 2/3/2009 If you mean for the tarot it's allowed there are other articles I think. So you can do an article also. Everyone has their own take on it.
