How to Make Homemade Cinnamon Applesauce

It is apple season and there are an abundance of things you can do with delicious, nutritious apples. One tasty way to enjoy apples is to make some homemade cinnamon applesauce.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 8 apples peeled, cored, and chopped (small to med in size)
  • pot
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • blender or food processor
  1. Step 1

    Peel, Core, and Chop the apples.

  2. Step 2

    Put the apples in a med sized saucepan/pot.

  3. Step 3

    Add the water, cinnamon, and sugar to the apples.

  4. Step 4

    Cook the apples over medium heat for about 20 minutes or until apples are soft.

  5. Step 5

    Let the apples cool completely.

  6. Step 6

    Put the apples in a blender or food processor and mix to desired consistency.
    You can also use a fork or potato masher if you prefer.

Tips & Warnings
  • using firm, tart apples works well, but any kind can be used
  • you can omit the cinnamon if you want regular applesauce
  • if you don't want a big cinnamon taste, use 1/2 teaspoon
  • apple mixture gets very hot
