Think about applying epoxy concrete paint. It is waterproof, durable, and look sharp. In fact, most people use epoxy when painting their floors. You do have to mix 2 paints together, but the work is actually quite easy.

2
Consider non toxic, "green" concrete paint. Where will the paint be used? A playroom basement is much different than a garage. If your children will play on the floor, non toxic is important.

3
Decide how shiny you want your concrete paint. There are some that come with extremely high luster. Remember, these look very nice when they're clean, but tend to show dirt easier than the low luster brands.
-
4
Choose a color that closely resembles the concrete. For most people, the main reason for concrete paint is to minimize dust and give a cleaner look. Unless you specifically want to go bold, less is more.
