Things You'll Need:
- Paint samples
- Tape
-
Step 1
Purchase some sort of a semigloss paint since kitchens are high traffic areas. Even if you don't cook much, interior paint in the kitchen is exposed to more people than most rooms in the house. Semigloss is more durable than a flat or an eggshell paint.
-
Step 2
Consider purchasing interior paint for the kitchen designed to prevent mold and mildew. Any room, especially a kitchen, that utilizes water and heat should consider special mildew-combatant paint.
-
Step 3
Decide what you want your kitchen to say with it's interior paint. If you want your family and guests to feel hungry, red, orange, and yellow increase appetite. If you want to decrease appetite, blues and purples will do the job. Green, on the other hand, relaxes people.
-
Step 4
Go to your local paint or hardware store to choose the final interior paint colors. You may have to grab several sample shades of your chosen color. Bring them home with you.
-
Step 5
Tape your chosen colors on the wall and look at them in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Wait for several days before you make your final interior paint selection. This way you know your decision isn't too quick.
