If you are a career woman you need to build a professional wardrobe with women's business suits. It doesn't have to be too expensive if you have a basic plan. But getting good suits that fit your body type is essential for a professional image. Here I will lay out a basic plan using Sarah Palin's fashion as an example.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 black power suit with both pants and skirt.
  • 2-3 white basic blouses.
  • 3 suit jackets in colors to mix and match.
  1. Step 1
    Black business suit.

First and foremost in any professional wardrobe comes the black power suit. It is called that for a reason. A black business suit can be counted on to give you a confident look, no matter where you go. It's best to get one that has both pants and skirt. (If it doesn't, then just buy a pant suit, plus a black skirt that matches well enough.)

  2. Step 2
    Basic white blouse.
    Basic white blouse.

Get at least one basic white blouse. But it's good to have two or three ready to go. These are classic and never go out of style. They look very professional with almost any suit. You can't go wrong with a white blouse.

  3. Step 3
    Red power suit jacket.

Then buy three suit jackets in other colors. Wear these with the pants and skirt from the black power suit. This way you can mix and match, combining the same items over and over, to create many different looks. I suggest getting one suit jacket in a neutral color, like beige, off white or gray. The the other two should be in bright colors, like blue, purple or peach - red in particular is a good power color. Sarah Palin mixes red and black suits a lot.

  4. Step 4
    Peach suit jacket.

Here is an example of a peach suit jacket that Sarah Palin wears with a black skirt or pants. This suit jacket looks stylish, but remember that it's the black pants and skirt that is the foundation.

Tips & Warnings
  • When you shop, bring photos of what you already have to make sure it matches. The key is to get the most possible outfit combinations.
