Congratulations your pregnant! 70% of all women have morning sickness. Doctors now claim that morning sickness is the sign of a healthy pregnancy. Morning sickness can start as early as your 2nd week of pregnancy and usually ends by your 14th week. Try keeping a journal of whatever triggers your morning sickness. It could be the smell of perfume or certain foods cooking. By writing in a journal you will soon see what is setting off the nausea. Through my 3 pregnancies I discovered a few things that helped ease the nausea. I hope this will help you too.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1
6 Small Meals A Day Rather Than 3 Large Ones

6 Small Meals A Day Rather Than 3 Large Ones

Eat 6 small meals a day rather than 3 large ones. This will keep your stomach from beginning empty. Avoid eating foods that are fatty, greasy, spicy, or acidic if you find that they bother

Morning sickness typically passes after the first trimester. I hope that you find at least partial relief to help them cope with morning sickness by using one or several of the following remedies.

  2. Step 2
A Healthy Bedtime Snack That Includes a Protein Such As Cheese or Peanut Butter.

Try eating a bedtime snack with some protein in it. Cheese & crackers with fruit make a nice snack.

Keep crackers on your night stand and eat a few crackers before you get out of bed. A dear friend of mine eat popcorn to settle her nausea. Also get out of bed slowly in the morning.

  4. Step 4
    Prenatal Vitamins

    Prenatal Vitamins

If your prenatal vitamin makes you sick. Try taking it with food in the evening rather than in the morning. If this does not help then talk to your doctor about switching to a different vitamin. The iron in the vitamins tend to make some women sick.

  5. Step 5
    Acupressure Point P6 eases nausea

Acupressure is often called acupuncture without the needle. The pressure point for nausea is P6. Which is located 3 fingers-breadths from the wrist crease, between the two central flexor tendons of the wrist. (Make a tight fist and flex your wrist .... you should be able to feel 2 tendons. The button goes between them.)

Place the acupressure wrist band on Point P6. Acupressure PSI wrist bands for the relief of nausea due to morning sickness, motion sickness/travel, chemotherapy, and anesthesia.

  7. Step 7

Take 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and 1 tablespoon honey in cold water before bed. This sounds gross but it really works. In fact, during the U.S. Civil War, soldiers used vinegar to prevent gastric upset. Apple Cider Vinegar cures more ailments than any other folk remedy.

  8. Step 8
The Smell of Lemons Is So Soothing

Eating lemons have been used as a remedy for motion sickness & seasickness. You can sniff them, suck on them or sprinkle them with salt and lick them. Sometimes the natural scent has a calming effect as well.

  9. Step 9

Give in to your food cravings. If you are carving something sweet, eat fruit instead of candy. Try to replace something healthy as an alternative to junk food.

  10. Step 10
One cup a Tea a Day

Peppermint, chamomile, raspberry, peach, marshmallow root & ginger teas are helpful. All of these teas are know to help with nausea. Drink one cup of tea a day. If you drink too much it could cause adverse side effects.

Crystallized ginger candies are also good to help ease morning sickness keep a few in your purse or on your night stand. Also you could drink ginger ale to settle your nausea.

  12. Step 12
    Vitamin B6

    Vitamin B6

With my second pregnancy I had Morning Sickness until my 7th month. I was concerned that this would effect my baby. At a visit with my OBGYN his nurse suggested that I try vitamin B6. A week after taking the B6 I felt wonderful.

The dose recommended for easing nausea and vomiting is 10 to 25 mg, three times a day. But check with your OBGYN or Midwife first. They can tell you how much to take. The amount of vitamin B6 in prenatal supplements varies by brand you may need more than the amount in your prenatal vitamin. Doctors have researched vitamin B6 in aiding morning sickness. They all agree it works but cannot explain why. You can also use vitamin B12. Let your doctor calculate the dosage for you.

  13. Step 13
    Call Your Doctor If

    Call Your Doctor If

CALL THE DOCTOR WITH MORNING SICKNESS If

    * The vomiting has not stopped

    * You're urinating less and your urine color is dark

    * Your mouth, eyes, and skin are feeling dry

    * You are feeling increasingly tired

    * You can't think straight

    * You are feeling increasingly weak and faint

    * You haven't been able keep anything down for 24 hours.

Tips & Warnings
  • Check yourself for dehydration by pinching your skin into a fold on your arm. If the skin does not bounce back this means it lacks elasticity. Which is a sign of dehydration.
  • Avoid beverages that contain caffenine
  • Always ask your doctor or midwife. They know what is safe for you and the health of your baby.
  • Do everything in moderation.

on 10/29/2008 This is all very good advice. I am about 6 and a half months pregnant and still have nausea in the morning. I never knew the tip about chamomile tea. I love it and it is caffeine free.
