Finally, a program as unnecessarily enthusiastic as me!

Download Fluke. It's the secret to this quick fix. Fluke is at http://cubicfruit.com/fluke/ and it's free. I know I'm going on and on about this thing like I have stock in cubicfruit or something, but it really is the key here. Once you get it, install it and restart iTunes.

      Always Open With!

Ok, this is a crucial trick. Find a .flac file and right click it. Put your mouse over "Open With" and chose "Other." In the prompt the comes up, chose Fluke and MAKE SURE you select the "Always Open With" box! Hit the open button.

Yes, I really did need a flac copy of this Videodrone song.

This is the part where I say something sarcastic about how there is no step three. Through some Quicktime magic, your flac file now works in iTunes. From here you can convert it, move it around, or do whatever you want with it. If you'd rather open it in iTunes as a CD to convert, I have a tutorial for that listed below.

Tips & Warnings

  • Because this is really a workaround for iTunes, there's some strange things under the hood. Consult the Fluke website for further information.
