Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

Measure 15 cc or 1/2 ounce of the carrier oil. Add 5 drops each of lavender, peppermint, and bergamot essential oils if desired.

  2. Step 2

Shake or stir the mixture until well blended. Massage two drops into each of the temples for approximately one minute each. This may be repeated every 30 minutes if the migraine headache lingers or returns. Place a small ice pack on the back of the neck for 5 minutes after the essential oils are massaged into the temples and if possible lie down for about 10 minutes. The headache should be completely gone by then.

  3. Step 3

If this does not completely relieve the migraine headache, fill a bathtub with hot water as deep as you can. Sit in the tub with an ice pack on the back of your neck. This allows the blood vessels in the head to constrict and stops a migraine headache It also allows the extra blood in the head to drain into the body through the heat of the hot water. The constriction of the blood vessels in the head stops the spasms that causes the migraine headache.

Tips & Warnings
  • Seal the essential oil mixture for future use. Keep in a dark colored glass container.
  • If kept in a plastic bottle, keep away from light as essential oils can react with light when in plastic.
  • Wash your hands after using any essential oils.
  • Avoid the eye area when massaging the oils into the temples.
  • If any oil gets into the eye, wash it out immediately.
  • If migraine headaches last more than 24 hours it is time to consult a physician.
