How to Make a Good Luck Talisman

A talisman is a magical object, often made out of natural materials or inscribed with symbols, used as a charm to draw specific energies to a person when carried or worn. Luck talismans are powerful items to keep on you when taking chances, or to protect you from things that are beyond your control.

  • Candle holder

Instructions

    • 1

Place whole nutmeg into a vice, with the side the stem had been removed facing up. Tighten the vice so that it holds the nutmeg firmly, but be careful not to crush or crack it.

    • 2

Use a drill to put a hole clean through the nutmeg, from top to bottom.

    • 3

Choose your candle and bead color. If you are seeking luck for prosperity, such as gambling or business, use a green candle and beads. If you simply want general luck to help you with matters beyond your control, or so that unforeseen circumstances work out in your favor, choose orange. If you cannot find the color that you want, use white.

    • 4

Go somewhere quiet with the nutmeg, orange blossom oil, marker, beads, thread, needle, candle and candle holder. Make sure it is somewhere you can relax and will not be disturbed. Put all the objects on a table or the floor in front of you. Sit for a while and meditate on your need. If you like, invoke your God(s), or call to your guardian angel or spirit guide.

    • 5

“Dress” your candle by anointing it with the orange blossom oil. Rub the oil from the top of the candle to the bottom, all the while envisioning your desire. Picture yourself with the money you wish to win or earn in your hand, or picture yourself feeling relaxed and at peace because things are working in your favor. When you’re done visualizing, place the candle in the candle holder and light it.

    • 6

Take the nutmeg into your projective hand. This is your dominant hand, usually the hand that you write with. Hold the nutmeg in this hand and envision your desire going into the nutmeg. You may begin to feel the nutmeg tingle or pulse, which means it is fully charged.

    • 7

Draw the Germanic rune HAGALL, the rune of luck, on your nutmeg with a fine-tipped marker. Give it a minute or two for the ink to dry.

    • 8

Thread the nutmeg on elastic thread. Begin stringing on the beads, imagining your luck increasing as you string each one.

    • 9

Make the string long enough to fit comfortably but snugly around your wrist. Tie it off and cut off the excess thread.

    • 10

Dribble some of the candle wax infused with the oil onto the nutmeg, right over the rune symbol, to “seal” the talisman’s power. Blow out the candle and it is done.

    • 11

Carry your talisman around with you in your pocket or bag to keep its energies with you. Wear it on your wrist, especially when taking risks, to promote good fortune.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always pair common sense with magic. The strongest talisman in the world will not protect you from getting hit if you put yourself in the path of a speeding truck. Remember that magic lends helpful energies to your life, it does not give you instant gratification or make you invulnerable.
