For centuries, women have been making their own hair removal wax. Preparing your own hair removal wax is easy and can save time and money. It's also quick and, once prepared, can be reused until it's gone. Follow the steps below to mix and use your own homemade hair removal wax.

Cut the lemon in half. Save the remaining half for other use. Using a bowl that's safe for the microwave, squeeze as much juice from the lemon as possible into the bowl. Make sure to use a bowl that has a lid available so the wax can be store and reused at a later time.

Add one cup of sugar to the lemon juice. Use a fork to mix the sugar and the lemon juice. At this point, you will end up with a clumpy mixture, provided the lemon was squeezed as much as it could be.

Add 1/4 cup of honey to the mixture. Using the fork, stir all ingredients until the mixture is smooth. The wax will need to be stirred each time it is being used, prior to heating.

Set the microwave on one minute at a high temperature and heat the wax. Another minute may be needed depending on the microwave. Another quick stir and the wax is ready to use. If the wax is runny, it is too hot. Let it cool one minute. The wax needs to be thick enough to be spread on the area that is to be waxed.

Tips & Warnings
An old cotton T-shirt is perfect to use to make strips and it they can be washed for repeated use.
Popsicle sticks are perfect to use when applying wax. Rinse with water before reusing.
Exfoliate the skin regularly. This makes waxing more successful and prevents ingrown hairs from forming.
When waxing large areas, the wax may cool and need to be reheated. Start with 30 seconds and then test the wax.
Homemade wax has no expiration date. Store in a cool, dry place for future use.
Use your fingertip to check the temperature of the wax. It should be hot, but not hot enough to burn. Let it cool if needed. Always use caution when working with the wax; it can be very hot.
Keep the wax out of the reach of children.
The wax will be very sticky.
