Restrict the Formatting of a Document in Microsoft Word 2003

There are many applications that Microsoft Word 2003 can be used for. Most often it is used to create professional documents in a work setting. Sometimes, users will need to create a document that is formatted to a specific style, one that cannot be changed by other users. This program allows users to restrict the formatting of documents simply by setting a few parameters in the formatting menu.

Difficulty: Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open the protect document menu. Click on “Tools” then select “Protect Document.”

  2. Step 2

Set protect document parameters. In the protect document menu that opens, check the “Limit Formatting to a Selection of Styles” check-box.

  3. Step 3

Select the settings. Click on the “Settings” button. Check the boxes of the formatting styles you wish to allow in the document and un-check the boxes of the formatting styles you do not wish to allow in the document.

  4. Step 4

Save the changes. Click on “Yes Start Enforcing Protection” in the formatting task pane.
