How to Draw a Rat Skeleton

Rats are so dandy that you will probably want to draw their bone structures. Rat skeletons can gracefully adorn a number of items. They make for great illustrations on party favors, T-shirts or notebooks. Draw a couple on your science folder and you’ll be the hit of the class.

Instructions

    • 1

Start with his eye. Draw a slightly slanted oval to give your rat a menacing look. If you’d rather he be a tad friendlier, draw a big fat circle for his eye.

    • 2

Illustrate the skull. Draw an oval shape around the eye that comes to a point where his teeth will be. Go all the way behind his eye and make a little notch where his bottom jaw will connect. Draw his bottom jaw with lines close together, attaching to the top jaw and ending in a little hook where his bottom teeth will go.

    • 3

Draw his spine and tail. Use a series of small squares to denote the vertebrae. Make sure they go past his body to form his tail and end in a little triangular-shaped point.

    • 4

Add his limbs. Use straight lines with a ball at the top to create his front and back legs. If you draw one of each the illustration will be less complicated, but you can add all four if you wish.

    • 5

Make his ribs and pelvis. Draw thin rectangles to create ribs coming off his spine around his front leg. Draw a rounded shape above his back leg to serve as his pelvis.

    • 6

Finish off with fine details. Add small rectangles for his little toes, more rectangles for his top and bottom teeth and a small nose hole.

Tips & Warnings

  • Rat skeletons work great as tattoos, as well.
