How to Draw a Simple Witch

There are many different things that you probably associate with Halloween, a holiday with its roots in Celtic tradition, such as candy, costumes, and spooky images. One such spooky image is that of a witch, most likely because in some Latin American countries the holiday is known as Night of the Witches.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw a tall narrow point to start the witch's hat.

    • 2

Draw the brim of your witch's hat by drawing a sort of very thin oval that starts on one side of the witch's hat, swoops around the front and then swings back around to the other side of the hat.

    • 3

Start drawing an oval shape that extends from the bottom of the witch's hat. When you get to the bottom of the oval, give your witch a pointy chin, and then complete the oval shape by drawing it back up to the bottom of the witch's hat.

    • 4

Give your witch a pointy nose.

    • 5

Draw 2 small vertical ovals and then color in very small circles in the bottom of each oval to give your witch eyes.

    • 6

Draw a small curved line that curves upwards from below the witch's nose up towards one of your witch's eyes.

    • 7

Give your witch stringy hair by drawing some slightly wavy lines that extend from the bottom side of her hat downward, and then curl out at the very end. Draw as many as you feel necessary.

    • 8

Draw your witch's body. This may seem like a complicated step, but you can draw a simple body by drawing your witch wearing a large robe. To do this, draw lines that curve out from each side of the witch's chin, out for her shoulders, and then down a couple inches before you bring them in toward each other about half an inch. These first lines are your witch's arms. Then start two more downward lines at about the point where her armpits would be proportionately, and end the lines a little before where you feel her ankles would be. Connect this second set of lines with a horizontal line to make the bottom of your witch's robe.

    • 9

Give your witch legs by drawing two thin rectangles that extend from the bottom of your witch's robe about three quarters of an inch. These two rectangles should be drawn with about an inch and a half between them.

    • 10

      Make your witch's socks striped.

    • 11

Give your witch hands and shoes, and you are done. To make sure that your witch's hands match you can draw one hand, then trace it with a spare piece of paper, and then flip the paper over, trace the hand to the other side, and then finally trace this mirror hand at the bottom of the other sleeve of your witch's robe.
