Instructions

    • 1

Sow your Champion radish seeds in rich amended soil. Thoroughly blend in an organic compost and keep it moist. Radishes need lots of potassium and phosphorus, so go light on nitrogen rich fertilizers.

    • 2

Plant the seeds in rows, 1/2 inch below the surface. Allow about 8 inches between them.

    • 3

Thin out the seedlings once they sprout so there is about 2 inches between them. Radishes take up very little space so plant them amongst other vegetables.

    • 4

Harvest your radishes between three and four weeks. Radishes are a quick crop to grow and can be enjoyed shortly after planting. If the packaging says mid-season, give the plants 40 to 60 days growing time.

    • 5

Spread out seeds from different radish varieties so harvesting is a surprise. Not only will you pull up Champion radishes, you'll also enjoy Bartender Red Mammoth and Chinese Greenskin.

Tips & Warnings

  • Grow your Champion radishes when the weather is cool, and your radishes will taste sweeter.

  • Warm weather planting leads to pungent tasting radishes.

  • Radishes turn tough if you leave them in the ground for too long.
