How to Improve Skill at Guitar Hero
Guitar Hero is a hugely popular rhythm game for a number of different video-game consoles. Although the game does not require you to actually know how to play guitar, people who do have a natural advantage. If you aren't used to holding or playing a guitar, many of the finger movements can be incredibly challenging at first, but you can improve your skill with a bit of practice and a few solid tips.

1
Start Guitar Hero on "Easy" mode. This mode only requires you to use the first three buttons.
-
2
Place your index, middle and ring fingers on the red, green and yellow buttons, respectively.
-
-
3
Play a few songs on the game to see how well you're doing.
-
4
Enter the "Practice" mode (press "Start," then select "Practice") in order to slow down the song and play without the pressure of losing the game.
-
5
Once you can beat most of the songs on "Easy," prepare for "Medium"-difficulty songs by changing your finger positions. "Medium" difficulty requires you to use four rather than three buttons; for most people, using their little finger to press the buttons is particularly challenging. While still in "Easy" mode, slide your hand up one finger position so your middle finger is on the red button, your ring finger on the green and your little finger on the yellow.
-
6
Play a few songs until you feel comfortable using your little finger.
-
7
Practice and play until you can beat most of the songs on "Medium" difficulty.
-
8
Prepare for "Hard" mode by changing your fingering once again. "Hard" mode requires you to use all five buttons. Of course, you only have four fingers on your left hand, so you will need to practice moving your hand. To do this, play "Medium" with only three fingers (whichever you feel most comfortable with). For example, play "Medium"-difficulty songs without using your little finger. This forces you to move your hand among the buttons, but you only have to focus on four rather than five buttons. Once you can do this well, try songs on "Hard" difficulty.

9
Practice, practice and practice some more to prepare for "Expert"-difficulty songs. The only difference between "Expert" and "Hard" is speed--and for that, you simply have to practice.

there's a big difference between hard and expert not just speed but more crucial notes that have been removed for the hard difficulty. Trust me it's not just speed it's complex note patterns and more frequent adjustments to strum speed on certain sections. No disrespect meant by this post.
