How to Play Snake Tag

This is a gym game that any camp counselor, gym teacher or adult supervising children will find useful. It combines aspects of duck-duck-goose and elbow tag in a fun and engaging game for children.

Instructions

1. Have all the children except for one (this person is "it") line up with their hands on the shoulders of the person in front of them. The person leading the line must start a very slow jog around the gym, weaving around like a snake.

2. Once the whole line is following, have the first person in line run to the back of the line. It is the job of the "it" person to try to tag the others. Once they reach the back of the line, they are safe. Almost immediately, the next person at the front of the line must run to the back and the "it" person tries to tag her.

3. When the "it" person tags someone, have her run to the safety of the back of the line. The person she has tagged is now "it" and is not safe, and may be tagged back unless she makes it to the back of the line.

4. Continue this process until everyone is tired or the facilitator calls for a new game.
