How to Participate in Early Voting in San Diego

If you are registered to vote in San Diego county but will not be in town on Election Day, or if you fear being shut out by long lines, vote today. Early voting was set in motion because new voter registrations have come in at record pace this election season. Many board of elections offices in San Diego and beyond realized they would not be equipped to handle such a massive influx of new voters come election day. This new early voting option will help by eliminating long lines that could potentially discourage some new voters from participating in the process. It will also make vote counting more manageable for the registrar offices on election night so a winner can be determined in a reasonable amount of time.

1. Check your voter's registration status on the San Diego Registrar of Voters website (see Resources.

2. Check if your registration is currently valid. If so, you can vote in person Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. now through Election Day, at the Voter's registration office located at:Registrar of Voters5201 Ruffin Road, Suite ISan Diego, CA. 92123

3. Register to vote by mail if you are unable to vote in person. All registered voters will receive a sample ballot in the mail, and that ballot has a box where you can check and mail back in to request a ballot by mail. If you have not received a sample ballot, call the San Diego County Registrar of Voters at [phone].

Tips & Warnings

• If you want to vote on election day but don't have transportation, call either party's local campaign headquarters and they will help you arrange a ride to the polls.
• Make sure to bring photo ID.
