MySpace users can customize their profile page by using a few different sets of codes and blocks of HTML. Social networkers can use HTML or entire CSS style sheets to do everything from change the background image to tweak existing features; they can even hide certain elements on the page, including comments. For the best results, change one element at a time and preview your profile before committing to the changes. Playing with the HTML code on MySpace is one way to learn basic HTML and web-page design.

Things You'll Need:

  • Word processing or notebook program
  1. Step 1

    Log into your MySpace page and find the "Edit Profile" link near your photo. Scroll down to the "About Me" section. Copy the text in the box and paste it to a word-processing or notebook program. This will provide you with a safeguard for reverting back to the original MySpace design in case the modifications are not to your liking.

  2. Step 2

    If you want to completely overhaul the look of your profile, locate a MySpace layout that you like. This is the easiest way to customize your profile, especially if you like to make changes often. Free layouts are available at Freesourcecode.net and Pyzam. Or use the layout generator at MySpace Editor. (Follow the links in Resources.)

  3. Step 3

    Select and copy the HMTL code of your preferred layout. Paste the HTML code into the "About Me" box on your MySpace page. Preview the changes. Save the layout if you like it, or find a new one.

  4. Step 4

    Make your own contact table to further customize your profile. Use Contactbles.com to generate your own contact table to match your taste. Generate the code, copy it and paste it into the "About Me" box to change the existing contact table.

  5. Step 5

    Clean up the comments on your profile page by completely removing the box with this code: .friendsComments { display:none; }
