Are you getting tired of buying expensive boxes of dryer sheets? Stretch your dollars and extend the life of that fresh-smelling box of dryer sheets. Or you can make your own reusable earth-friendly dryer sheets.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Dryer sheets
  • Scissors
  • Washcloth
  • Liquid laundry softener
  1. Step 1

Start with the box of dryer sheets you already have. Remove the dryer sheets from the box. Divide into piles of 5 to 10.

  2. Step 2

Cut each pile of dry sheets into halves or thirds.

  3. Step 3

Once you are done, place your modified dryer sheets back into the original box. Reducing the size of the dryer sheets causes no noticeable difference in their effectiveness in softening clothes and removing static cling.

  4. Step 4

You can also reuse dryer sheets. When you are done with one load of laundry, simply find your used dryer sheet and toss it back in the dryer with the next load of clothes.

  5. Step 5

You can even ditch the dryer sheets for a more eco-friendly method. Simply take a clean washcloth and dampen it with some fabric softener. Toss it in the dryer with your wet laundry. You can also dampen the washcloth with water before you add the fabric softener to the washcloth.

  6. Step 6

By using a reusable, washable cloth, you never have to throw this dryer sheet away. When it gets a bit funky, just throw it in the wash. By minimizing dryer sheet size or by using a homemade dryer sheet, you are saving money and helping to save the earth.

Tips & Warnings
  • Never leave a dryer on when you are away from your home. It is a fire hazard.
  • Make sure you are not allergic to the ingredients in the dryer sheets or laundry softener before trying these methods.
