Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Colored cellophane
  • Small drying rack
  • Ribbons
  • Loaf pan
  • Carryout food containers
  • Glass jars
  • Decorative tins
  • Holiday mugs
  1. Step 1

Put them in the traditional tin. People have been passing around holiday cookies in decorative tins for decades and there is no reason to stop now. Wax paper across the bottom of the pan and top helps seal in the cookies and keeps them fresh.

  2. Step 2

Stack them up in glass jars with seals. Whether it’s a basic mason jar or a flip top glass jar with a rubber gasket lid, placing your cookies gently into a jar will bring some cool class to your homemade gift. Not appropriate for all types of cookies, but if you can stack them, then you can pack them in glass.

  3. Step 3

Pack Christmas cookies up in colored or clear cellophane bags. This is a great idea for office cookie exchanges where you need to package up dozens of cookies for dozens of people. Cellophane bags can be found at party supply stores or most mega stores during the holidays. Tie with a ribbon and cookie recipe to finish off the gift.

  4. Step 4

Place cookies on a small round cooling rack and then wrap it in a new, clean dish towel or placemat. It's perfect for a hostess gift of some very specially designed cookies and five or six cookies will be nicely showcased on this reusable rack. Use some fabric ribbon and a gift tag to tie it all up with and you are good to go.

  5. Step 5

Fill up a holiday mugs. You can get holiday mugs perfect for hot chocolate and cookies at any grocery or dollar store and they make a festive way to present your smaller cookies.

  6. Step 6

Use a basket lined with a clean holiday dish towel to cradle cookies. Small wicker baskets are inexpensive and reusable and present your cookies to your hostess or family member in a warm and inviting way. Cover the entire basket with cellophane wrap to protect the cookies from hungry hands and keep them fresh throughout the party.

  7. Step 7

Use carryout food containers like you get with Chinese food. Boxes come in many colors and are well-sized for small to medium cookies. An elegant ribbon will add a touch of style.

  8. Step 8

Put them in a nice bread pan. Truly the gift that keeps on giving, layering cookies into a loaf pan is a great way to protect cookies during shipping, and provide the recipient with a lasting gift they can use over and over again. Wrap the pan in colored cellophane and tie at the top with a bow so that the package looks pretty under the tree.

Tips & Warnings
  • Add plenty of packing peanuts to cookies that are going to be shipped and float the box in another box for extra safety.
  • Don't wait too long. Prepare and share cookies in a timely manner to keep them fresh.
