How to Draw Manga Heads

Manga heads are very simple to draw. They are just simple shapes that are used on both men, women and children characters in the genre. These tips will show you how to draw a basic manga head step by step by starting with an oval shape.

Things You'll Need:

• Pencil or pen
• Paper

1. 
   Example 1

   Draw an oval. On each side draw a line that curves inward. Make the two lines meet with a "C" shape for the chin. Erase the bottom of the oval, as shown by the dotted line in the example.

2. 
   Example 2

   Draw two curved lines on each side of the head that start about 1/3 of the way up for the neck.

3. 
   Example 3

   Draw two "C" shapes halfway down each side of the head for ears. This completes the basic head shape.

4. Add details, such as hair, eyes, nose, mouth and any other accessories to show gender.

• Most manga characters have angular chins.
