SonicSwap is a free service that allows you to upload your iTunes playlists and listen to other users' playlists. The service identifies your musical style by the contents of your uploaded playlists, and suggests new playlists that you can listen to for free online. It is a great way to discover new music and is a great alternative to online radio services like Pandora.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • iTunes
  • Windows XP/Vista or Mac OS
  1. Step 1

Sign up for a SonicSwap account. You can do this by visiting the SonicSwap website and clicking on the "Sign-up" tab. You will have to submit some basic information, and then wait for a confirmation e-mail. When the e-mail arrives, click on the confirmation link, which will automatically log you in.

  2. Step 2

Download the SonicSwap iTunes plugin. You can find this plugin under the "Upload playlists" tab, near the middle of the page. Click on the link and download the zipped file. Then run the set-up file.

  3. Step 3

    Open iTunes.

  4. Step 4

Go back to the SonicSwap homepage and log in. Find the "Upload Playlists" tab again and click on the "Upload" button to begin locating your playlist files.

  5. Step 5

Find new music. Once you have uploaded your favorite playlists, you will be able to find new playlists that will appeal to your musical tastes. If you want to search for playlists manually, you can look under the "People" tab on the main page.

Tips & Warnings
  • The site is powered by YouTube, so you won't actually be listening to MP3s of your favorite songs, but videos uploaded to YouTube.
