Whether you’re planning a last minute weekend getaway or you need to make emergency travel arrangements, there are several ways to book a last minute airline ticket and save money. Unfortunately, your choices are limited, and this may call for flexibility on your part. Even so, last minute airline deals are popular, and there are travel deals to various domestic and international destinations.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Visit a website that specializes in last minute airline tickets. Several websites such as 11th Hour Vacations and Last Minute Travel offer plenty of deals on last minute travel. You can book a last minute airline ticket and save hundreds, or plan your entire vacation and save money on hotel and rental car.

  2. Step 2

Bundle your hotel and airfare. If booking a last minute flight and you want to keep the cost low, consider buying a travel combo. Combo packages include hotel, airfare and car rental in the purchase price. Buying in bulk is often cheaper because some websites offer additional savings on package deals.

  3. Step 3

Be flexible. Nobody likes to fly early in the morning or late at night. However, these last minute airline tickets are the cheapest. In addition, having one or more layovers can also reduce your last minute airline ticket price.

  4. Step 4

Talk with a representative. Although online is one of the best ways to book a last minute flight, you can also call the airline directly and speak with a customer service representative. They can offer unadvertised discounts and help you with standby arrangements.

  5. Step 5

Buy from a ticket consolidator. Airline ticket consolidators buy volumes of tickets from airlines and sell these to travelers. Rather than let an unsold ticket go to waste, they’ll discount the ticket price a few hours or days before the scheduled flight.
