Make a "Second Life" Host Resume

Second Life is an Internet-based 3D virtual world created by Linden Research, Inc. Second Life incorporates a domestic currency called “Linden Dollars” that can be exchanged for the U.S. dollar and foreign currency. One way of earning “Lindens” is to seek employment inside Second Life. One terrific example of the unskilled employment a user can obtain in Second Life is the Host position. Because this type of position is very popular, the user will need a Second Life Host resume. Here are a few tips to creating such a resume, which can help you land the job you want.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Become a member and download Second Life to your computer's hard drive. Follow the link in Resources and choose a free basic membership or a premium account for $9.95 a month.

  2. Step 2

Click on the “Edit” tab on the toolbar and click on your profile. In the “About” section, enter your Second Life first and last name. Use the * key on your keyboard to help center your name. (Example: ***********Bobbie Naidoo******) Next, enter your Second Life address. If you do not own or rent a residence in Second Life, use an email address or a community networking email address.

  3. Step 3

In the “About” section, enter a descriptive sentence, such as "I love meeting new people, I am creative and I am a total party animal."

  4. Step 4

In the “About” section, list any host equipment you possess. For example: "I own a PC microphone and a Second Life mic that I can wear on my avatar's ear." Next, list any hosting skills you have ("I have excellent Emoting skills").

  5. Step 5

In the “About” section, list any hosting jobs and events you have worked in Second Life. If you host in the real world, add that information as well.

  6. Step 6

Click on the “Inventory” button on the bottom toolbar. The inventory box will open on your computer screen. Right-click on the “Notecards” file and select “New Note”; a blank note card will open. Take the information in the “About” section of your profile and retype it onto the “New Note” card; click "Save" and rename your notecard. This will be your Second Life resume, which you can give to potential employers.

Tips & Warnings
  • Upgrade your avatar with new hair and good-looking skin and clothes.
  • Visit clubs and observe their Host.
