How to Create a Virtual Character
You can create a virtual character to represent your online personality, instead of posting photos of yourself on the web. Here's a guide on how to do so, using either a Gizmoz or a Yahoo account.

Sign up for a free Gizmoz account by visiting the homepage. Click the "Sign Up" link located at the top right corner of the page. You'll be asked to enter some basic information about yourself to get started. After registering for a brand new account, log into it to start building your virtual character.

Click the "Create" link at the top of the page. It will open a drop-down list of options for you to choose from. Select the "Gizmoz" link and you'll be directed to a page for building your virtual character. To successfully start building a virtual character, you'll also need a photo of yourself.

Select the "Upload Face Image" link to add your photo to the Gizmoz server. Your photo should show your face free of hair, facing forward, no glasses, and with a closed mouth. It's very important to upload a clear image of yourself for your virtual character. Click the appropriate gender and age before moving to the next step. Within a few minutes, your image will be successfully uploaded to the system.

Click the costume that appeals to you most for your virtual character. Choose a body, hair, headgear, accessories, and makeup for your virtual character. This will give you a chance to customize it and add your own personal touch. Before making any final decisions, you'll be able to preview the changes on the right side of the page. If you're satisfied with the changes, click the "Save" button to finalize them.

Visit the Yahoo Avatars homepage to begin building a virtual character. If you don’t have a Yahoo account, sign up for one. Click the “Sign Up” link located at the bottom of the page. It will prompt you to enter some basic information about yourself. Sign into your new account to create a brand new virtual character.

Click either the "Male" or "Female" button on the Yahoo Avatars homepage. After selecting the appropriate gender, select the "Create My Avatar" button located on the page. It will immediately direct you to a page for more customization. There are multiple tabs listed at the top of the page to customize your virtual character.

Pick the "Appearance" tab to select the best skin color, facial shape and eye color for your virtual character. Choose an outfit by clicking the "Apparel" tab. You'll be presented with several different outfits. Select the one that works best for your virtual character. There will be various tops and bottoms for you to view.

Click the orange "Save Changes" button located on the left side of the page when you're satisfied with the recent changes. You'll be able to place the created avatar on various Yahoo websites. The virtual character will represent your online personality.

Don't upload a photo where your face is partially hidden.
