How to Dress Like a Beatle for Halloween

The Beatles were one of the most influential, evolutionary, and musically talented groups in history, consisting of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. Together, these four young men from Liverpool created a very recognizable sound, brand and look. Dressing as one of the Beatles can be appropriate for any age group and is sure to be a favorite of the crowd at any Halloween party. This is also a great idea if you are going trick-or-treating or attending a party in a group.

Things You'll Need

• Era-appropriate Beatles outfit
• Liverpudlian accent
• Glasses (if John Lennon)

Instructions

1. Choose which Beatle you'd like to dress up as for Halloween. Consider which you look most like or who you most admire.

2. Decide on an era. The Beatles had many different phases, including Teddy boy leather, suits on Ed Sullivan, India-influenced hippie attire, psychedelic Sgt. Pepper uniforms and a the wide 70s sideburns.

3. Decide whether you'd prefer to rent or buy a costume. If you want to dress as a Sgt. Pepper era Beatle, you may want to consider renting a costume, but a hippie era Beatles costume would be very easy and inexpensive to make using clothes from the thrift store.

4. Accessorize. Locate a mop top wig, microphone, guitar, bass or drum sticks to complete the outfit.

5. Practice answering questions in character. For example, if someone asked you where you lived, you might choose to answer "in a yellow submarine" or "on Penny Lane."

6. Keep in mind that each member of The Beatles was his individual person. Choose a mannerism or prop that will distinguish you as that particular Beatle, such as drum sticks, lack of shoes or glasses.
