Instructions

How to Write for Demand Studios

  1. Step 1

Submit your resume and personal information to Demand Studios to be considered for a position. This can be found on the home page, listed in the Resource section, by clicking on the Writers Apply Now button. Make sure to list all freelance writing experience you've had in the past, even if it was unpaid.

  2. Step 2

Search through assignments to find ones that best fit your area of expertise. Once you've logged into Demand Studios, after you've been accepted, you can either select Find Assignments or Suggest Assignments. These are both listed on the side menu. Finding assignments is faster and may pay more, but if your suggested assignments are approved, you'll get to write about whatever title you chose.

  3. Step 3

Write your article in about 400 words spread between 5-7 steps. Aim to include all the details so someone following along at home can follow your steps, but don't add unnecessary wording. Your audience will get bored because they want clear, precise instructions.

  4. Step 4

Research any facts or instructions you are unsure about. Make sure your article flows, is accurate, and is interesting to the reader. Don't take an article simply for the money; make sure you have a strong understanding of the process you are describing. Add tips and warnings when they are needed.

  5. Step 5

Use a catchy title and introduction to get the readers' attention. Keep it simple and conversational. The reader is usually searching for a particular topic to learn about, and will go with the title that best matches what they are searching for. If you have trouble picking a title, or describing your article, write the steps first and add this information last.

  6. Step 6

Proofread your article after you've finished. No one likes finding grammatical errors in the article they're reading. It not only looks bad, but it may make the reader question if you know what you're talking about. Once the article is complete, add a picture to catch the reader's interest. The picture is what the reader sees before anything else, even the title.

Tips & Warnings
  • Try writing your articles using Mozilla Firefox instead of Internet Explorer. It has a built in spellchecker to help with editing.
  • Always cite pictures for your articles when required.

on 10/13/2009 Great article. In your tips you recommend writing your articles in Firefox. I recommend writing your articles in Word or other word-processing program then cutting and pasting it to DS's templates...Just in case.
