Step 1
Draw a rectangle 2 1/2 inches wide by 4 inches tall on the cardboard. Round the top short end to form the head shape. Cut out the head pattern.
-
Step 2
Trace a doubled piece of muslin using the head pattern. Cut out the head. Sew around the head using a 1/4-inch seam allowance. Leave the bottom open for turning and stuffing.
-
Step 3
Turn the head right side out and stuff. Sew the end closed.
-
Step 4
Lightly spray one side of the stuffed head with the clear acrylic spray sealer and allow to dry. This will keep the pen marks from bleeding on the fabric.
-
Step 5
Dip the blunt end of the wood skewer into the black acrylic paint and dot two eyes, centered a half inch below the rounded top seam of the head. Allow the paint to dry. Apply blush to the cheeks with the cotton swab.
-
Step 6
Draw a skinny 1/4-inch triangle nose below the eyes with the red fine line permanent marker. Draw a heart-shaped mouth with the red marker. Outline the nose and the mouth with the black fine line permanent marker. Draw a smile from the sides of the heart mouth and two eyelashes below each eye using the black marker.
-
Step 7
Attach hair to the Raggedy Ann angel ornament using the red embroidery floss. Insert the needle on one side of the head seam to the other side. Tie in a knot and cut to a half inch length. Start level with the smile and repeat approximately every 1/4 inch around the head level with the other side of the smile.
-
Step 8
Draw a rectangle 8 inched wide by a 4 inches tall on the lightweight cardboard for the angel wings and body. Round one long end and the short ends to create a wing shape.
-
Step 9
Layer two pieces of the quilted fabric with the right sides together. Trace the wing/body pattern onto the quilted fabric. Cut the wing/body out. Sew around the wing/body using a 1/4-inch seam allowance. Leave a 2-inch opening in the center of the long straight edge. Turn the wing/body right side out.
-
Step 10
Insert the neck part of the head into the wing/body. Glue the head in place.
-
Step 11
Rip a 1-inch-wide by 12-inch-long piece of the complimentary fabric. Tie the strip into a 2-inch bow. Glue the bow to the front of the Raggedy Ann angel ornament at the neck. Glue the flat button over the bow knot.
-
Step 12
Rip a strip of fabric 1 inch wide by 3 inches long . Tie a knot in the center and trim to 1 inch. Glue to the left side of the hairline.
-
Step 13
Cut a 5-inch piece of craft wire. Form a 1-inch-diameter circle on one end of the wire. Insert the straight end into the back of the Raggedy Ann angel ornament at the neckline and glue. Bend the circle over the head for the halo. Glue the wood star to the left front of the wing/body.
-
Step 14
Sew the white crochet thread through the back of the angel head. Measure the two ends 3 inches long and knot the ends together for a hanger.
