How to Build a Grappling Hook
Grappling hooks are tools useful for grabbing objects, as well as scaling walls. Grappling hooks have been used for centuries for purposes of warfare and recreation. While often times purchasing a grappling hook can be costly, building your own grappling hook can be a fun, cost-effective alternative.
Things You'll Need
- Rope or twine
- Two large hooks or two metal bars (for example, wrenches)
Instructions
-
-
1
Place one of the two hooks or metal bars on top of the other perpendicularly. This should look like a plus sign (+).
-
2
Wrap your rope or twine tightly around the center of the two hooks, creating an "X" shape.
-
-
3
Wrap the rope around again in an "X" shape, but this time leave enough slack to create a hole to fit the rope through.
-
4
Put the end of your rope through the hole that was created from the slack.
-
5
Pull the rope tight as possible. If you are finding the hook is not as tight as you would like, make the same knot as you would to tie your shoes.
-
6
Throw the hook by holding it in your dominant throwing hand, swinging your arm in a circular motion and releasing the hook towards the desired direction.
