A set of cinnamon stick candle holders is a wonderful gift that the recipient can enjoy throughout the year both as a home decor item and a delightful potpourri. Cinnamon stick candle holders are easy to make and delicious to smell; just make sure to keep them out of reach of curious pets and small children. You can do this project with any size and shape of candle holder as long as it has vertical sides.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Candle holder
  • Cinnamon sticks
  • Thick rubber band
  • Silk ribbon (at least 1/2-inch thick)
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  1. Step 1

Place the rubber band around the candle holder. Make sure that it is lying flat against the surface of the candle holder. it should be tight and not allow much slack when you try to pull a portion of it away from the candle holder.

  2. Step 2

Insert the cinnamon sticks in an upright position between the rubber band and the candle holder. Do not allow the rubber band to become twisted as you do so. The sticks should be directly next to one another and as you fill the rubber band you will not be able to see the candle holder behind the cinnamon sticks at all. Continue until you have entirely surrounded the candle holder with cinnamon sticks. If the holder is taller than the cinnamon, that is okay.

  3. Step 3

Tie the ribbon in a pretty bow around the candle holder. It should cover the rubber band. Use a thin line of glue to make sure that the ribbon remains in place. Make the bow large and fluffy and cut the ends of the tails on a slant. No part of the ribbon should hang down into the area where the candle will sit.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can decorate the candle holder with flowers, pine cones or holly sprigs. To make a festive Christmas candle holder, you might alternate candy canes and cinnamon sticks.
  • Never leave candles burning unattended even for a brief period of time.
