Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Standard-size light bulb
  • Peach acrylic paint
  • Small bit of kitchen sponge
  • Baby food jar
  • Craft glue
  • Toilet paper cardboard core
  • Scissors
  • Measuring tape
  • 1/4 yard Christmas fabric
  • Sewing machine or needle and thread
  • Iron
  • Hot glue gun
  • Twelve inches of 1/4 inch wide green satin ribbon
  • Raffia
  • Sunshine-yellow curly doll hair
  • Twenty-four inches of star tinsel garland
  • Sunshine-yellow curly doll hair
  • Wooden skewer
  • Black acrylic paint
  • Pink acrylic paint
  • Cotton swab
  1. Step 1

Paint the top half of the light bulb using peach paint and a kitchen sponge. Set the light bulb on the baby food jar to dry. Then paint the other half of the light bulb in the same manner.

  2. Step 2

Apply craft glue to the rim of one end of a toilet paper cardboard core to make the neck. Insert the screw end of the bulb into the core. Allow the glue to dry.

  3. Step 3

Cut a piece of the Christmas fabric eight inches tall by twenty-two inches wide for the dress. Cut a four inch wide by thirteen inch piece for the arms.

  4. Step 4

Baste a running stitch a 1/4 inch from the edge on one twenty-two inch side of the dress. Pull up the gathers and tie around the neck of the light bulb angel tree topper. Tack the ends together in the back. Add a small amount of craft glue under the neckline to prevent slipping.

  5. Step 5

Fold the length of the arm piece in four equal folds and iron. The arms will measure one inch wide by thirteen inches long. Tie a loose knot in the center of the arms, for the hands.

  6. Step 6

Hot glue the short ends to the back of the light bulb angel tree topper, over the tacked stitches of the dress. The knot should be centered on the front of the angel.

  7. Step 7

Tie the green satin ribbon into a two-inch bow and glue to the front neckline of the angel's dress.

  8. Step 8

Cut ten pieces of raffia approximately thirty-six inches long. Holding them all together, tie an eight-inch bow for the angel's wings. Trim the ends and then hot glue the bow's knot to the back of the angel, over the ends of the arms.

  9. Step 9

Stretch and rub a large palm size wad of doll hair, until you are satisfied with the fluff. Apply hot glue over the top, sides and back of the head. Press the hair down over the glue.

  10. Step 10

Wind the tinsel into three spiral rings, four inches in diameter. Twist the ends together around the spiraled rings. Apply craft glue to the twisted ends and then place the rings on the head for the halo.

  11. Step 11

Dip the blunt end of the wooden skewer into black paint. Dot the eyes in the center of the face an 1/8 inch apart. Dip the pointed end of the wooden skewer into the black paint to dot the nose, centered slightly below the eyes.

  12. Step 12

Dip a cotton swab in the pink paint. Rub off most of the paint to create a dry brush effect. Rub the pink paint lightly over the cheeks.
