This is a great looking festive wreath that can add a special touch to your indoor or outdoor decorations. With its simplistic design, it doesn't have to just be for the holidays either. This wreath can also be used as a gift. All you have to do is change the felt, and the wreath can be used for baby showers, Fourth of July and more. These steps will guide you in making this colorful home accent.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • One 18-inch Styrofoam ring
  • One roll green crepe paper streamer
  • Felt (72 inches wide)
  • ¾ yard dark green felt
  • 1/3 yard medium green felt
  • 1/3 yard bright green felt
  • 6 inch x 72 inch red felt
  • 400 straight pins
  • 24 corsage pins (2 ½ inches long)
  • White glue
  • 2-inch, 22 gauge wire
  • Heavy paper
  1. Step 1

Completely cover the Styrofoam ring by winding the green streamer around it.

  2. Step 2

Cut a petal pattern out of the heavy paper.

  3. Step 3

Cut all of the green felt into 3-inch squares. Fold each square into quarters. Pin the pattern to the squares with the point to the folded corner; cut out. Remove the pattern. Unfold the petal, which should now look like a four-leaf clover.

  4. Step 4

With a pin, pushing through the center, attach the dark green petals, evenly spaced, to the ring. Add the medium and bright green petals, placing them close together for a dense, “ruffled” look.

  5. Step 5

To make holly berries, cut red felt circles the size of a quarter, then wrap around the corsage pin heads covered with white glue. Let them dry. Add the berries to the wreath.

  6. Step 6

To make the red felt bow, cut one 3 inch x 54 inch strip and one 2 inch x 36 inch strip for the bow knot. Lay the 3-inch strip down flat and fold back and forth four times.

  7. Step 7

Crimp the folded felt together in the center to form the bow shape. Secure it with a 6-inch length of wire. Cut off excess wire in the back.

  8. Step 8

Without creasing, fold the bow knot strip in half crosswise; 5 ½ inches below the fold, twist a 16-inch length of wire around, leaving wire-ends of even length. With these ends, wire the bow knot to the center of the bow, then wire the bow to the wreath.

  9. Step 9

Shape a wire loop hanger and attach it to the top back of the wreath to hang it up.
