How to Make a Calico Turkey
This is an easy to make decoration that can add the right touch to your Thanksgiving or Christmas table. The colors and fabrics can be changed based on your home decor or taste. Additional embellishments can be made to spruce it up or make it something the children would like to keep as a toy.

Instructions

1
Transfer the pattern. Cut the turkey tail, wings and body from the calico print.
-
2
With right sides together, stitch around the tail. Make a quarter inch seam. Be sure to sew scallops so they are nice and round.
-
-
3
Clip each deep curve between scallops to the stitch line with scissors. Turn and press.
-
4
With pencil and ruler, draw lines on fabric from deep curve to dot. Machine stitch over pencil marking of lines.
-
5
Stuff each section ending where stitching ends. Make stuffing firm and even so the tail will stand up. Now stuff the bottom of the tail.
-
6
Close open end with a slip stitch. Sew lace around tail. Begin at the outside bottom. Go in and out of scallops.
-
7
For the wings, sew wrong sides together, leaving a small opening. Turn and press, then stuff lightly. Slip stitch the opening.
-
8
For the body, sew a quarter inch front seam of the body. On heavy line, turn a quarter inch to wrong side of fabric. Machine stitch. You'll then want to stuff it firmly.
-
9
Beginning at the center of tail, sew front body to tail, holding stuffing as you go. Add more stuffing as you go along to make a firm body front.
-
10
Slip stitch wings to body. Wings should stand out from body.
-
11
Cut the head from red felt. Machine stitch the head together.
-
12
Stuff this part. Place the head on the body at placement shown on pattern. Slip stitch it to the body, putting in a little stuffing as you go.
-
13
With one strand of black embroidery floss, stitch the eye using satin stitch.
