Step 1
Enter the lottery. The Red Sox instituted a lottery system for their high-demand tickets in recent years, so in order to get tickets for Yankees games, opening day or Green Monster seats, you need to enter a lottery. The lottery typically happens a few weeks before the event (post-season play) or the regular season. You can enter the lottery by going to the Red Sox's home page and following the links to the lottery. If you are signed up for email updates, you will know when you can enter the lottery. Sign up for the email newsletter on the Red Sox home page. If you win a chance in the lottery to purchase tickets you will receive an email with a link to buy tickets. If you don't get the chance to get tickets for the ALDS series, you will automatically be entered for the ALCS series and then ultimately to the World Series. However, if you don't get tickets from the lottery, see steps 2 and 3.

Step 2
Get day-of-game tickets. Luckily, the opportunity for day-of-game tickets still exists in the postseason. The regular season day-of-game ticket rules stipulate people can only start lining up five hours before the start of the game. However, in postseason play the same rule doesn't apply. Watch out because people will start lining up outside of Gate E on Lansdowne Street days before the game. So get there early. Not everyone gets there days in advance, so if you show up the morning of the game you should be fine. The rules for getting day-of-game tickets for regular season games or postseason games are: Get in line, stay in line and buy your tickets. You will get the opportunity to buy tickets two hours before the start of the game and you will have to enter the park right away, so plan to spend an entire day at Fenway Park. Bring friends, cards and newspaper to sit on. Make it an experience and it will be fun, and you are almost always guaranteed to get tickets.

Step 3
Find tickets through resellers. If all else fails, buy your tickets on a website that resells tickets. Beware, however, because the tickets you purchase will be more expensive than face value. Expect to shell out extra cash. Good websites are stubhub.com and acetickets.com. Make sure to use reputable sites because their customer service department will handle any issues that arise. Buying tickets off of these sites prevents you from waiting outside Fenway Park all day.
