How to Create a Snowman Coloring Page in Adobe Photoshop

During the winter, cold weather forces people to stay inside and come up with ways to entertain themselves. Art projects are a perfect way to entertain children. Using Adobe Photoshop, you can create your own snowman coloring page for kids. Every child can have a copy of the same page, and then they can all put their creations on display.

Instructions

    • 1

Open Adobe Photoshop. Start a new document by going to "File" then"New". Select the “8 inch by 10 inch” pre-set size so your print outs will be full pages and high quality. Select the “White” option for the “Background/Contents” option at the bottom of the dialog box. Press “OK” and the new file will load.

    • 2

Make sure that the “Layer” window is loaded by going to “Windows” and selecting the layer option. The best way to create a coloring page and line everything up correctly is by using multiple layers.

    • 3

Select the paint brush tool and change the brush size to 35 by sliding the brush size slider at the top of the screen in the brush tools.

    • 4

Draw a wavy line across the bottom of the screen. This will represent the base of snow that the snowman will stand on.

    • 5

Create a new layer by pressing the little piece of curled paper on the bottom of the Layer window. It is the fifth button across on the bottom.

    • 6

Select the custom shape tool and choose the circle tool using the options at the top of the screen. Create the base of the snowman and make it sitting in the snow. Use the paint bucket tool to fill the circle in with a pure white color so the snow mound is not visible behind it.

    • 7

Create another new layer and add the midsection of the snowman. Repeat this process for the top layer of the snowman. Click the eye ball next to the layer of the project with the base of the snow in it. This will make the layer disappear, but it is still a part of the project.

    • 8

Go to "Layer" then "Merge" visible and the Snowman should now all be part of one layer. Delete any lines where the snowman is touching so that the whole project looks connected.

    • 9

Use the paint brush tool to add in eyes, a mouth, and buttons to the snowman. Use the line tool to draw a top hat on top of the snowman and a carrot nose.

    • 10

Complete the coloring page with added snowflakes or other winter objects that you would like to add. Go to "File" then "Print" to print out the coloring page and save the page for future use.
