1
Replace your sink. Does your bathroom sink have a big counter and a cabinet underneath it? Get rid of the sink and replace it with a pedestal sink and you will have opened up a lot of space in your small bathroom.
-
2
Hang a big mirror. Hanging a large mirror will reflect space and light, which will make the room look bigger.

3
Install ceramic tile. Installing ceramic tiles to the floor and walls will help to make your small bathroom look larger. Bigger tiles on the floor will give it depth. You always put a small colorful rug down on the floor for accent.
-
4
Install a shower. Get rid of your tub and install a shower to free up more space in your bathroom. Getting a clear glass shower door will allow more light through out the room.
-
5
Add storage space. You can hang some wall mounted shelves in a corner or hang a cabinet on the wall. You will have more space and still have plenty of room to store your necessities. Keep your bathroom as clutter free as possible. Clutter makes a room look smaller and, of course, messier.

Tips & Warnings
For the illusion of added space, try going with soft colors for your walls and floor. You can then accent your bathroom with brightly colored towels and accessories.
If you have a window, try using block glass in it. You won't have to worry about curtains or anyone being able to see in and it will brighten your bathroom up.
Using overhead lights evenly distributes light through out the room.
Remember that while the remodeling of your bathroom is going on you will not be able to use it. This will not be much of a problem if you have two bathrooms. For those who have only one, timing is everything.
Have the materials needed on site for whoever is doing the remodeling to cut down on time.
