How to Deal With A Noisy Workplace
Most of us have experienced it. You have a particularly thorny problem to solve at work, but the noise in the office makes it difficult to concentrate. Either it's the office machines or inconsiderate coworkers who think nothing of prattling loudly all day. There is some distraction in every work place. The problem becomes exaggerated if your company embraces an open office concept. Fear not. There are ways to deal with the problem without losing your cool.

1
Look for a quiet place when you do not want to be interrupted, Often, there is a place that is out of the way and unused where you can go to think clearly. You may simply ask for an empty conference room. Enter one if you know it's free.

2
Have a meeting with your supervisor if the source of your problem is a loud co-worker. Do not approach this as a personal problem. Talk to him about improving the productivity and comfort for everyone. Propose that he consider adopting a noise management policy to deal with the problem.

3
Confront the person if you are offended by someone that is noisy. That is much better than making public remarks to co-workers. After all, you must continue working with the offender. At your private meeting, tell the offender your problem. Encourage her to find a way to solve it. Offer your help if needed.

4
Buy a machine that will create neutral noise to help make your cubicle, desk area or office less susceptible to office noise. A basic machine creates so-called “white noise.” It is inexpensive, and it will reduce noise's effect in a limited area.
-
5
Replace the noise with music. Purchase an inexpensive music player with headphones. Play music that will help eliminate most of your office noise.
-
6
Prevent interruptions from noise if you work alone in a home office. Since you do not work in an office building, you will be faced with noises that may be different. Hanging pictures on the wall is a great way to reduce the noise.
