Sending a Fax on the Internet With Vista

You don't need a fax machine to send a fax if you have a computer with Windows Vista . Vista's Window Fax program lets you send and receive faxes over the Internet. The fax wizard along with Vista operating system, will have you faxing in seconds.

Instructions

      Turn on your computer. If you are using an external modem, check that it's on and connected to an analog phone line.

      Click on the Windows "Start" button. Click "All Programs," then "Windows Fax and Scan." A dialog box will appear.

      Click "Fax" on the left side of the dialog box.

      Click "I'll choose later; I want to create a fax now," if you don't want to receive faxes in Vista and just want to send a fax. Follow the prompts which will automatically connect you to the fax modem.

      Click "New Fax" if you want to send a new fax. The Fax Setup Wizard will appear. Follow the setup instructions which will guide you through setting up your first fax. If you've previously used Windows Fax and Scan in Vista, click "Tools," then "Fax Accounts," then "Add." Follow the instructions to connect to your fax modem. You are now enabled to send a fax on the Internet with Vista.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can connect to only one fax modem at a time.
