Planning a surprise getaway for your spouse can be thrilling. The getaway should be a pleasant time for both of you. This is a great way to spend some quality time alone together, away from home and family obligations. Whether you are celebrating an anniversary, birthday or another special event, or if you just want to get away, this is a time to reconnect. Here are some helpful tips for planning your trip for two.

Things You'll Need:

  • Notebook
  1. Step 1

Write down a list of potential places in a notebook. Does your spouse like baseball? Perhaps a trip to Cooperstown, New York might be a good idea. Does your spouse enjoy the beach? Find a nice, relaxing, beach resort.

  2. Step 2

Do some research on each place. Write down what hotels will cost there, what there is to do there, and how much it would cost to travel to your dream destination. Consider the distance from your home as well, especially if you will be driving. Once you have your notes, choose the best place that will surprise your spouse.

  3. Step 3

Book your hotel early to ensure availability. Use your own credit card so that your spouse doesn't find out about it. If you don't have your own credit card, ask a friend or family member to book it for you.

  4. Step 4

Delete all the history on your computer. If you were visiting sites on North Carolina beaches, and your spouse knows that there is a trip coming up but doesn't know where, he can immediately figure it out. Go into your computer control panel and delete the history when you are done making plans online.

  5. Step 5

Research activities to do in your dream destination. Write down the information in your notebook.

  6. Step 6

Make your travel plans. If you are driving, be sure to have directions to your hotel. If you are flying, make sure that you book your flight early. Again, use the same technique when booking airline flights as you did with booking the hotel. Use your own personal credit card, or have a family or friend book it for you so that there is no trace of your activity.

  7. Step 7

Tell your spouse the dates that you will be gone so that he will not make any other plans. The getaway location will still be a surprise, so don't let anything slip.
