How to Make a Candy Striped Christmas Vase
Candy canes and poinsettias are both signs of Christmas time approaching. What better way to celebrate Christmas than by making a candy-striped vase that can hold your poinsettias or other Christmas flowers? These would make a delightful gift for a friend or to take as a hostess gift. Invite your friends over for a holiday craft party, set out the supplies and let each guest make a vase to take home. Things You'll Need
- Various size glass vases
- White pearlescent paper
- Measuring tape
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Double-sided tape
- Thin red ribbon
- Craft glue
- Poinsettia flowers or other flowers of your choice

Lay out the pearlescent paper on your work surface. Place the vase on its side on top of the paper. Mark the top and bottom of the vase on the paper. Measure around the vase and add 1/2 inch. Cut out the measurements from the paper.

Place a piece of double-sided tape vertically on the vase and stick one short side of the paper to the tape, securing it to the vase. Be sure the paper is even on the vase so it doesn't extend over the top or bottom. Wrap the rest of the paper around the vase and attach the overlapped end with more tape.

Cut a length of ribbon four times the size of the circumference of the vase.

Attach one end of the ribbon to the paper covered vase with a drop of glue. Hold and let dry.

Wrap the ribbon around the vase, crisscrossing until the ribbon is used up. Secure the loose end with glue. Be sure to pull the ribbon tightly around the vase so it stays in place. If needed add a drop or two of glue over the ribbon so it stays secure.

Fill the vase with water and flowers of your choice. If using fake flowers, do not add water to the vase.

Use red paper instead of white and white ribbon instead of red.
Make various size vases and group together as a centerpiece.
You can use any kind of lightweight paper you like.
