It has been a breezy day and your hair has been whipped around causing massive tangles. Or perhaps you fell asleep and woke up with a rats nest of a tangle in your hair. Those people with long hair will know the frustration of removing stubborn tangles from hair. If you try to remove the knot or tangle from your hair in the wrong way, you may break or damage your hair, causing split ends.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Comb
  • Cream rinse
  • Pony tail holder
  • Barrette
  1. Step 1

Isolate the tangle by picking away any hair that may be in the way.

  2. Step 2

Ask someone to help you isolate the tangle if the knot is in an awkward place in the back of your head.

  3. Step 3

Use a fine-tooth comb and start picking away at the knot from the bottom. If you start at the top, you may tear the hair.

  4. Step 4

Continue picking at the knot slowly and gently. Work your way up the tangle. Take your time.

  5. Step 5

Spread on some cream rinse if the tangle is very stubborn. Work in the cream rinse and loosen the knot.

  6. Step 6

Continue picking at the knot from the bottom up until the knot is removed.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use cream rinse or conditioner on your hair after you shampoo each day. This should prevent dry, brittle hair that is prone to tangling.
  • Tie your hair back in a pony tail or barrette if it is a windy day.
