How to Make a Snowman Bead Necklace

How to Make a Snowman Bead Necklace thumbnail
Snowman jewelry is fun and easy to create. You can decide to use more or less detail on your snowman depending on your preferences.

A pretty, seasonal necklace is a wonderful gift for a friend of any age. This snowman makes and ideal present for teachers or relatives, and children can make him almost entirely on their own. Even better, it only takes about 20 minutes to put one of these necklaces together, so you can make several in a short period of time if you are in a crunch for those school holiday presents.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut off a length of jewelry cord slightly longer than you want your necklace to be. Make sure that it will fit over your head. The elastic should help with this.

    • 2

String the white, blue and clear beads onto the length of cord. You can arrange them in a random order or you can make a repeating pattern. Continue to string the beads until you have filled up the entire necklace.

    • 3

Knot the ends of the necklace together so that the beads cannot escape. Use tight knots, but do not pull the cord so tight that there are kinks in the beads.

    • 4

Tie a knot in a second, shorter length of cord. It can be about 4 inches. This piece will hang off the front of the necklace when you are done, so be sure that you have enough cord to make a knot once you have built your snowman.

    • 5

String the snowman beads on the short cord. They should be strung in this order: large round white bead, medium round white bead, small round white bead, flat black bead, black cylinder bead.

    • 6

Decorate your snowman. Use the markers to give him buttons, eyes, a nose and a mouth and the yarn to make him a scarf by tying it around the cord in between the medium and the small round white balls.

    • 7

Tie your snowman to the middle of your necklace. He will hang down like a pendant. Just tie the snowman's short cord around the cord of the longer necklace. He should be right in the middle of the length of the necklace.

    • 8

Trim all excess jewelry cord. Cut as close as possible without cutting the knots apart. Now you are ready to wear your snowman or give him as a gift.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can use snowflake beads to make the necklace more wintery or custom glass snowman beads to make building and decorating your snowman even easier.
