How to Make a Sequin Christmas Candle
Christmas candles make wonderful gifts and are a great way to decorate your entire home for the season without cluttering up areas with lots of knickknacks or large ornaments. You can make your own Christmas candles quickly and easily using items that you probably already have around the house. By making your own candles, you do not have to go and buy new, seasonal ones, and once the holiday is over these candles are easily converted back to their old forms, should you wish to continue using them throughout the year. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Sketch a design on the candle. Use the blunt pencil for this. This will not leave a line, but it will make a light dent in the wax that you can follow with your sequins. Use a simple design like a Christmas tree, an ornament or a package. If you like, sketch two different designs--one on each side. You can also make your candle striped like a candy cane or other Christmas candy.

2
Fill in a portion of the design using the sequins and straight pins. Start with a single color to make things simpler to keep track of. Hold a sequin flat against the candle, then push a straight pin through the hole in the center. The head of the pin will hold the sequin against the surface of the candle. If you have trouble getting the pins all the way into the candle, heat them with a hair dryer or you can use a lighter. Be careful if you are using a lighter not to burn your fingers.

Continue pushing sequins into the candle until your design is completed. You will have a beautiful, sparkling candle that looks beautiful whether it is lit or not.

Tips & Warnings
Add additional accents or embellishments like pearls, ribbons, flowers or small Christmas charms by either pinning these on like you did with the sequins or using a hot glue gun to fix them to the candle.
When heating the pins, only heat the end of the pin. This will help to prevent accidental burns.
This project is not a good one for young children as it involves heat and sharp objects. Older children should be closely supervised.
