How to Search for Bible Verses Online

The Bible is such a vast collection of books and verses that it can be very difficult to locate specific verses you are trying to study. However, you can find multiple resources on the Internet to make your search much easier. Online, you can search by bible topic, keyword and location. Once you start searching the Bible online, you'll never spend hours trying to find a verse again.

      Access one of the many Bible searching websites. Choose from Bible.com, BibleGateway.com, Christ Notes (christnotes.org) and many other websites.

      Search by topic. If you're looking for something specific on BibleGateway.com, for example bible verses about salvation, click on the “Topical Index” link in the menu bar at left. Enter “salvation” into the field.

      Search by location. If you would like to find verses on Bible.com by inputting where they are found in the Bible, highlight “Bible Resources” on the left side of the page and select “Bible Search.” You will then be directed to BibleResources.org, where you can enter the passages.

      Choose a version. Most Bible search websites allow you to choose from numerous Bible translations, such as the New International Version, the King James Version, and even more recent translations including the Message Bible. You can also select from different language translations. To choose a translation, pick it from the “Select Version” list and continue with your search.

      Complete your search. When you are searching BibleGateway.com for a specific topic and have entered the information into the search field, click on the “Search Topic” button. You will be directed to a list of verses on that subject. When searching Bible.com by location, enter the book, chapter and verse where it is found. Click on the “Look Up Passage” button. You can then read the verse and print it.
